The Method
Portugal is a land of romance and tradition. From the cobblestone streets of Porto to the historic Guimaraes, traveling to another land ignites the spirit of both adventure and learning.
Nearby the retreat home is a Native American sweatlodge. The ceremony will involve the construction of a low, earth-floor hut to capture the heat, heating stones in an adjacent fire, and singing traditional songs for a 90-minute ancient steam sauna session.
A major detail of the retreat is the absence of technology. Trust the process and disconnect to connect. The absence of devices shifts the brain chemistry and steers it towards focus and presence. There will be no need for phones or computers during the retreat as all needs will be managed.
Lectures and discourse will inform attendees of the physiological and philosophical principles of yoga, qigong, and nervous system regulation. This information helps students both understand and commit to the physical practices.
All meditation sessions are technique-focused. As meditative techniques are learned through simple and effective repetition, cognitive control and presence are developed.
Students will develop both sensitivity and focus to visualize qi energy; a pillar of the qigong practice.
A uniquely strength-based, slow-moving style of yoga and breathing exercises that trains a stronger regulatory response by purposefully generating intensity and strain.
A uniquely tension-based style of Qigong that trains a more resilient nervous system through elegant, powerful movement combinations.
We’ll rise with the sun, follow a small river into a nearby treeline, and practice next to old Roman aqueducts to synchronize with the natural rhythms. Managing circadian rhythms is an invigorating habit change that can generate a powerful sense of personal agency and emotional balance.

Having trained with teachers from around the world, in places such as the US, Europe, Asia, and Australia, Greg has gained a deep appreciation for the ancient practices of Qigong, which he believes to be the most comprehensive exercise for overall wellbeing. In addition to his expertise in physical training, Greg has also explored the world of plant medicine and spirituality for over a decade, deepening his understanding of the human psyche and how to work through emotional and mental barriers.
Eben holds a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology and has over a decade of experience teaching yoga, meditation, and breathwork. After teaching in local studios, he traveled the world leading retreats. His passion for mind management and existential exploration has inspired him to practice yogic austerities in India, explore shamanic ritual experiences in South America, and trek into remote mountain ranges as meditative pilgrimages. Ultimately, he believes that cultivating a potent spiritual attitude is an apex human skill.
